Mouse&House

Expositie in oktober en november 2016

The urban art collective Mouse&House originated out of the necessity to reclaim a playful use of the street environment. We try to establish a thought provoking dialogue with the public through our visual narrative. We look for places that are suitable for our artistic interventions. We experiment not only with the artistic object, but also with the space that holds that object. We want the artistic object and the space that holds it to influence each other mutually.

In this exhibition we bring our interventions from the street to the canvas. The exhibited works are versions of works we put in the streets of cities in Europe in the past years, or are an evolution of these works. We like to play and get out of our comfort zone and experiment with different techniques. You will find stencil works that traditionally are more associated with the urban art and street art culture and also collage and mixed media works.

Mouse&House is made up of:

Tiddo Evenhuis
I studied history at Utrecht University. I am intrigued by the interaction between art and daily life and the question where the boundaries lay between pop culture, art and kitsch, if these exist at all. And that’s why I like street art.

Sara Montero
During my years as a student of Linguistics I fell in love with visual poetry. I love street art because it is in the streets and it isn’t selective with its public and doesn’t distinguish between who gets to see it and who doesn’t.
